Gazzew Boba U4T

Tactile

The "T" stands for thocky, and the U4T earns it. A huge, sharp bump at the very top of travel plus a deep, full bottom-out have made this Outemu-made Gazzew design the reference tactile of its generation.

Sound & feel

Designed by community figure Gazzew and manufactured by Outemu, the Boba U4T pairs a proprietary "Boba" plastic housing with a stem that puts a massive, sharp bump at the very top of the press: almost no pre-travel, almost no post-bump mush. A long stem pole cuts total travel to about 3.2mm and makes the pole itself the bottom-out surface, which is exactly where the crack at the end of the stroke comes from. Springs come in 62g and 68g bottom-out flavors.

The sound is why people preorder these. The housing material produces a deep, saturated thock that many consider the benchmark all other tactiles get measured against. The factory lube is deliberately light: springs donut-dipped so they cannot ping, leaves lightly lubed, slider rails left dry. Stock smoothness comes mostly from the tolerances rather than from grease, and it is excellent.

If you build one tactile board to understand what the hobby is chasing, this is the honest default answer. It pairs beautifully with thick PBT caps and gasket-mounted boards that let the low end breathe.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Gazzew Boba U4T sound like?

the reference thock: deep, full, immediate. Use the player on this page to hear simulated press and release sounds derived from its real specifications.

Is the Gazzew Boba U4T good for gaming or typing?

Its tactile bump gives clear feedback on every actuation, which most people love for typing. It works for gaming too, though some prefer linears for rapid double-taps.

How heavy is the Gazzew Boba U4T?

62g bottom-out. Note that Gazzew officially rates bottom-out force. Brands differ, so check the basis when comparing switches.
