Keyboard builder
Design your next board before you buy a single part: pick a layout, dial in a colorway, paint any key, and get a realistic parts budget. Share the result with one link.
Low height keeps the resonant chamber small: a controlled, slightly brighter bottom-out that many describe as focused rather than deep.
Per-key paint
Scroll the board sideways to reach every key. Pinch to zoom for precise painting.
Parts list for this build
Street-price estimates. Real prices vary by brand and sale, so treat this as a starting budget.
Design first, spend second
Group buys and keycap sets are expensive commitments. The builder exists so you can see the whole board (colors, profile, case) before money leaves your wallet. Start from a preset inspired by a classic set, then make it yours: paint the Escape key, try a different accent cluster, swap the case color.
When the look is right, listen before you order: every switch in the parts list links to its sound page, and our simulator plays the full typing experience. Not sure which size fits you? The keyboard sizes guide compares every form factor to scale.
Frequently asked questions
What does this keyboard builder do?
It renders an accurate, to-scale keyboard in any layout you pick, in any of our colorway presets or your own colors, with each keycap profile's height, row sculpt, taper and dish reflected in the render. You can paint individual keys, share the exact build as a link, download it as an image, and get an estimated parts list with a street-price estimate for the kit, switches and keycaps.
Can I import a layout from keyboard-layout-editor?
Yes. Paste the raw JSON from keyboard-layout-editor.com and the builder will import your custom arrangement, including rotated keys, a feature the popular simulators parse internally but never expose.
Are the colorway names official?
No. Our presets use original names with community-approximated palettes, described honestly as "inspired by" well-known sets. Trademarked set names belong to their owners; we reference them only descriptively.
How accurate is the estimated build cost?
It is a street-price estimate: barebones kit by form factor, your chosen switches at typical per-switch pricing rounded to a purchasable pack size, and a typical set price for the selected keycap profile. Real prices vary by brand and sales, so treat it as a realistic starting budget, not a quote.
