Sound & feel

The Holy Panda was never designed. It was discovered. Enthusiasts realized that the tactile stem from Drop's Halo switches, when transplanted into the linear Invyr Panda housing (molded by BSUN, the same factory behind the later YOK Panda recreations), produced a bump unlike anything on the market: immediate, rounded, and forceful, with almost no pre-travel before the event.

The sound is just as famous as the feel. The Panda housing gives a deep, slightly hollow thock on bottom-out that early YouTube typing tests turned into an obsession, effectively launching the modern thock arms race. Stock frankenbuilds are unlubed and can feel a touch scratchy, so most builders hand-lube them lightly.

Because it started as a DIY recipe, the "original" Holy Panda means sourcing Halo stems and genuine Invyr or Panda-style housings yourself. If that sounds like work, the productized versions from Drop and Glorious capture most of the character off the shelf.

Genuine Invyr housings were PCB mount with five pins, while Drop's retail units came plate mount with three. No Invyr datasheet survives to settle it, but that pin count is the distinction builders have always gone by.
