Privacy policy

Short version: we designed this site to know as little about you as possible. Two things are exceptions and both are described below: Google Analytics, which counts visits across the site, and the contact form.

What we don't collect

  • Keystrokes: everything you type in the simulator, tester and typing test is processed entirely in your browser. It is never sent to our servers.
  • Accounts: there are none. No emails, no passwords, no profiles.

What stays on your device

Your preferences (chosen switch, volume, theme, layout), tester progress and typing-test history are saved in your browser's localStorage so they survive reloads. Clearing your browser data removes them completely. Where the browser refuses to store anything, such as a Safari private window or our tester embedded on someone else's site, nothing is kept and every visit starts fresh.

Third parties

  • Hosting/CDN: our host receives standard web-server logs (IP address, user agent) needed to serve the site.
  • Contact form: the form on our contact page is a Google Form embedded from docs.google.com. Loading that page lets Google set cookies and receive your IP address, and anything you submit is stored by Google and readable by us in that form's responses. Google's privacy policy governs it. If you would rather keep Google out of it, email us instead: the address is on the same page.
  • Store links: we currently have none. If we add them later, clicking one hands you over to that store's own privacy policy, and the link would carry an identifier that tells the store the visit came from us, nothing about you.
  • Analytics: we use Google Analytics 4 on every page except our embeddable tester widget, so the copy of the tester running on someone else's site does not report to us. It sets cookies in your browser (named _ga and _ga_<id>) to tell a returning visit from a new one, and it sends Google your IP address, page URL, referrer, rough location, device and browser. Google discards the full IP address rather than storing it. We look at it in aggregate, to see which switches and tools people actually use. We do not send it anything you type, any build you make, or anything that identifies you personally, and we have not enabled Google Signals or ad personalization. Google's privacy policy governs what Google does with it. Blocking cookies, using a tracker blocker or turning on Do Not Track all stop it, and every tool on this site works exactly the same with it blocked.
