Yes. Every force, travel and material fact comes from manufacturer datasheets and documented community sources, the same dataset that powers our switch library and sound simulator. Where the community disagrees or a spec is unverified, we say so instead of rounding it off.

Can I hear the concepts these guides describe?

That is the whole point of this site. Sound concepts link straight to switch sound pages, so you can hear a thocky Gateron Oil King against a clacky NK Cream, and mods like the tape mod can be toggled live in the homepage simulator.

Do I need to buy anything to follow the mod guides?

The tape mod costs almost nothing, case foam is a few dollars of material, and stabilizer tuning needs a small tube of lube. Switch lubing is the priciest project because of the lube and tools, but a single 5 g jar of Krytox 205g0 will do several full boards.
