Silent Black pairs the MX Black spring with Cherry's stem-rail dampers, producing a switch that is both quiet and substantial. The heavier spring actually complements the silencing. With more force behind each press, the cushioned landing feels controlled rather than mushy.

Like Silent Red, travel is trimmed to 3.7 mm and both stroke directions are dampened, and current retail stock is the MX2A revision. The sound that remains is a low, muffled thud, deeper in tone than its lighter sibling.

It's a strong pick for shared spaces and late-night sessions if you naturally type with force. Light-fingered typists will find Silent Red less tiring over a full day.
