The Ergo Clear is a recipe, not a product: take MX Clear's large tactile stem, replace its punishing spring with something around 62-67 g, lube every sliding surface, and reassemble. The result keeps the satisfying bump while deleting the fatigue. Nothing here is a manufacturer rating: the forces in the table describe a typical build, and they move with whichever spring you drop in.

It matters historically because it was among the first famous frankenswitches, proof that the community could remix Cherry's parts into something better than anything in the catalog. That DIY spirit led directly to Holy Pandas and today's entire boutique tactile market.

Building a set means buying Clears, springs, and lube, then an evening of work per board. Modern factory tactiles like Boba U4T deliver a similar payoff out of the box, but many still build Ergo Clears for the ritual as much as the result.
