Choc V2 answers the biggest complaint about the original Choc: keycap choice. By fitting an MX-style cross stem to the low-profile housing, V2 lets slim boards use the vast universe of standard MX keycaps instead of the small Choc-specific catalog.

The compromise is height. An MX cap on a V2 sits taller than a true Choc cap on V1, giving back some of the low-profile advantage. Feel stays shallow and direct at 50 g, the same operating force Kailh's datasheet gives the V1. The geometry is what shifted: V2 actuates earlier at 1.3 mm and bottoms out at 3.2 mm, against V1's 1.5 mm and 3.0 mm. The sound picks up some extra body from the larger caps it carries.

Note that V1 and V2 use different footprints; boards support one or the other. V2 shines in slim boards for people invested in MX keycap sets, while the ergo hardcore mostly stays with V1.
