Sound & feel

The G Pro line is Gateron modernizing its own classics: same weights and geometry as the standard colors, but with factory lubrication and generational refinements through the 2.0 and 3.0 revisions. G Pro Red is the volume leader, shipping in enormous numbers of Keychron and similar prebuilts.

The factory lube is applied lightly but effectively: stock G Pro Reds sound quieter and rounder than dry standard Reds, with spring ping mostly absent. For most buyers there's simply no work left to do.

It makes the standard Red largely obsolete at similar prices. The main reason to prefer the old version is the lowest possible cost. Note that G Pro 3.0 ships in both 3-pin and 5-pin SKUs depending on the seller, so check the listing before ordering for a PCB-mount build.
